Children's Conditions & Sports injuries
We see children of all ages. Common conditions include an abnormal gait or walk, plantar warts, foot/arch pain or athletes’ foot.Sports Injuries are treated, we can treat both acute injuries and chronic pain problems that may keep an individual from returning to their activity of choice.
Diabetic and arthritic care
We provide foot care for individuals suffering from a number of health concerns. We understand the complexities of your condition and create a treatment plan that will best suit your needs.
We treat conditions of the skin and nails and pride ourselves at being very gentle. This can be anything from nail care for someone who has trouble reaching their feet.
Thickened or discoloured toe nails may be due to fungus in the nails.
We have a number of options when treating fungus from natural anti-fungal products to, prescription topical medication or oral medication (we cannot prescribe oral medication) to laser treatment of fungus. We recommend coming in for an assessment to see which treatment would be best for you and your condition. If your nails are thickened without the presence of fungus they can be thinned down for you.
Ingrown toe nails - Ingrown toe nails can be both an acute problem (swollen, painful and infected) to chronic where they are more of a “dull ache” and a nuisance. We can treat both types, however if an area is extremely painful to touch or if you feel that you want the toe “frozen” with anaesthetic we would have to refer you to another practitioner as we are a non-surgical clinic.
Warts, Corns & Callous - When you come to the office with a spot on your skin that you are not sure what it is, we must assess the area to determine if it is a wart, corn, callous or something else. We may reduce the area, generally this is pain free, and determine what it is. Once we know what we are treating there is a number of options available to us.
With warts, we try to use gentle, natural treatments first, leaving more aggressive treatments later.
Corns are primarily caused by pressure, this could be from the way you walk, a bony prominence or caused by your footwear. Once we determine the cause we can come up with treatment options.
A callous is caused by pressure & friction; we treat the callous to get you comfortable and then determine why you are getting them and come up with a treatment plan.
Bunions & Hammer toes without a proper assessment are difficult to state what we can do for you from our website, but we do have a number of treatment options for these conditions from premade padding to custom made silicone devices for the toes if needed.
It is always best to come in for an assessment so we can see exactly what is going on.
Custom foot orthotics/arch supports
Not all foot orthotics are made the same and not all types of foot orthotics are appropriate for a specific condition. Many factors are taken into account when we decide if you need foot orthotics or not. Your age, occupation, body type, weight, the shoes you may need to wear and other relevant factors are all taken into account when we plan to make orthotics fo you.
We have two options for making foot orthotics, some are made in house in our own workshop, and some are made by a local laboratory that meets our quality and expectations of what we want in foot orthotics. The decision is made at the time of your assessment.
Once we have assessed you and determined that you require custom foot orthotics we will explain the process to you and create a treatment plan. Once a plan is agreed upon we will proceed to have the foot orthotics made for you.
Laser and Shockwave therapy
We have had our Shock Wave machine for over 7 years and have found it to be an excellent treatment option for chronic, unrelenting pain, heel pain (heels spurs and Plantarfasciitis). When other treatments have been tried and not been successful, "Shock wave therapy" may be considered. It has a 2 fold effect on plantarfasciitics. Firs the short term effect gives instant relief; the patient will walk out feeling better. Second, there is a long term effect where statistically it is shown that after 3 months the heel pain has resolved. The treatment feels like "poking a bruise" it is uncomfortable but it is not excruciatingly painful. As the treatment progresses in the body, "auto- anaesthetizes" itself; the are goes numb as the treatment progresses. Normally 3-4 treatments are required for 5-7 days apart. Each foot takes about 5-8 minutes to treat. shockwave therapy has also proven to work well on Achilles tendonitis as well.
Please contact us if you would lie to book an assessment and see if Shock wave therapy is an option to treat your foot pain.
Orthopaedic Shoes, Boots & Sandals
Through Just Feet, right next door to us we have a number of orthopaedic shoe lines available to us.
P.W. Minor, Drew, Orthofeet, Portofino, Aetrex, Bio-Time, Cambrian, Etonic, Dr. Comfort, Brooks running & walking shoes, Cat footwear, Wolverine, Keen and Neos (overshoes). We also carry orthotic friendly sandals from Porto-fino, Biotime, Cambrian, & Aetrex. We also carry some of the Orthoheel/Vionic sandals as well.
You will be sized and fitted properly with some of the best shoes available to us.
A note on Orthopedic shoe coverage and your insurance:
We encourage you to check exactly what your benefits cover. Some plans do cover “off the shelf” orthopaedic shoes, these we can provide easily. Some plans require the shoes to be modified, we can modify footwear. We suggest getting a predetermination letter first. This will help your Insurance provider determine if it is an eligible benefit or not. Custom made shoes: we can have custom shoes made for you, we do a very limited number “in house”, most are sent out to be made. Our experience has been that plans only cover a certain amount of the cost of custom footwear. Many times you are out of pocket a considerable amount of money. We find we can fit many people with stock modified orthopaedic shoes for much less money than a custom made shoe. If a custom made shoe is truly required we can help.
We are always prepared to do a “Predetermination” letter for your insurance company for the cost of custom shoes. This letter explains what we would like to provide, why you need them and the costs associated with it.
Cold laser for joint and tissue pain
At the Hamilton Family Foot Care Clinic we have a “Cold Laser” treatment sessions usually run 15-30 minutes.
Some of the unique healing effects of laser include:
Increased cell metabolism
Improved localized blood circulation

Relief from acute and chronic pain
Reduced localized inflammation and edema
Stimulation for wound healing and tissue repair
Stimulation of the immune system
Stimulation of nerve function
Conditions That Can Benefit from laser treatment
Research demonstrates that phototherapy can be used to effectively treat many conditions. Simulating the body’s natural repair processes using the healing nature of light has been proven particularly effective for certain conditions including:
Repetitive Stress Injuries (i.e. posterior tibial tendonitis)
Soft Tissue Injuries, Strains and Sprains
This is used for the treatment of pain, inflammation, plantarfasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, rheumatology, trauma, post surgical rehab, sprains, osteoarthritis, Edema, vascular and many other acute and chronic conditions and diseases.
This treatment is now available at the Hamilton Family Foot Care Clinic.
Cryonic Neuro-cryo-stimulation is an exciting new drug-free, non-invasive treatment modality for pain management, inflammation and musculo-skeletal trauma. Cryonic offers a rapid and efficient treatment method called Neurocryostimulation.
Cryonic Neurocyrostimulation combines cold and pressure to provoke an analgesic thermal shock; it involves hyperbaric cryotherapy at an extremely low temperature and offers a simple, fast and effective method of pain relief.
The thermal shock reaction allows the treatment of pain or inflammation within seconds and without the need for medication.
